Maintenance Check

Tires

Check tire pressure on all tires, including the spare.  30 to 35 PSI is typical, but check the rating printed on the tire sidewall.  Check for unusual or uneven tread wear and bulges or damage.  Make sure you have all the vehicle tire changing equipment.

Doors & Locks

Spray WD-40 on all door and trunk linkages and inside all locks to eliminate freezing.

Lights

Make sure that all lights are working.  Have someone outside the car check for proper operation of the bright and dim headlights, brake lights, tail lights, turn signals, and marker lights while you operate the controls.  Replace all blown lamps and fuses.

Fuel

Avoid running out of gas and keep at least half a thankful of fuel to prevent condensation in the tank.

Engine

Listen for strange or unusual sounds and have them checked promptly.

Air Filter

Check for a dirty or clogged filter, and make sure the cover is securely fastened.
